Studio logos of film companies play a critical role in branding and audience engagement even before a movie starts. These logos are not just mere trademarks; they are powerful symbols packed with semiotics, evoking emotions, expectations, and memories in the audience.
Each element—from color and shape to animation and sound—conveys a message about the studio's identity and the type of content it produces.
Recognisable studio logos include : Warner Bros, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures

What production companies/studio are famous for making thrillers?
Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (commonly known as Warner Bros., or abbreviated as WB, or WBEI) is an American film and entertainment studio headquartered at the Warner Bros. The company is known for its film studio division, the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, which includes Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Castle Rock Entertainment, DC Studios, and the Warner Bros. Television Group.
Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. has made significant contributions to the thriller genre, producing and distributing a wide array of films that span the full spectrum of thriller sub-genres, from psychological thrillers to action-packed crime stories. Examples including, Orphan, Zodiac (Paramount Pictures & Warner Bros.), The Shining, Se7en, etc)

The logo has evolved over the years, but its core elements have remained consistent, featuring the iconic Warner Bros. shield, and often a representation of the sky or clouds in the background. These changes have included updates to the shield's shape and style, variations in the font used for the initials and banner, and the introduction of more dynamic and three-dimensional visual effects.
The shield represents strength, protection, and tradition, reflecting the studio's longstanding presence in the film industry. The logo is also known for its dynamic animation, where the shield rotates and reflects the film scenes.
The logo has also been customized for specific films, incorporating thematic elements or animations that align with the movie's tone or setting.
For example, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (2009). For this particular film, the Warner Bros. logo at the beginning is rendered in a muted, almost desaturated colour palette, and it emerges from the clouds in a dark, stormy sky.

This not only sets the tone for the movie's darker themes and more mature content but also mirrors the movie's mood, which is steeped in mystery, danger, and the emotional turmoil of its characters as they face unprecedented challenges.
My studio logo design: Tina Liu Production
I chose to use my own English name for the title of my production studio. My aim is to make a studio logo that matches my chosen genre for my film opening, thriller.
The wiped blood immediately suggesting themes of violence or horror, which are common in thriller movies. The visceral nature of blood as a visual element can trigger a sense of fear or anticipation, preparing the viewer for a story that may involve crime, mystery, or survival, often seen in thrillers.
The edgy, sharp lettering style font reinforces the unsettling atmosphere that thrillers often aim to create. Red is commonly associated with danger, passion, and aggression, all of which align with the intense emotional experiences of a thriller.
In terms of animation and sound, a low, ominous drone, like a heartbeat or the echo of distant footsteps, could enhance the sense of suspense. The camera view zoom out dramatically on the logo, creating a feeling of being pulled into the story, incorporating a flickering effect.

I made the basis of my blog, I used the website Design.com to create the blood design and added the font.

For animation, I used Adobe After Effects
