Initial Ideas

The Plot

Our film opening follows a group of teenagers embarking on a camping trip filled with laughter and anticipation. Among them is Amber, who carries a sense of foreboding that contrasts with the light-heartedness of her friends. As night falls and the group settles in, Amber's request for company to the woods hints at her anxiety. When her friends vanish, leaving her alone in the darkness, her fears are amplified. The film's opening closes with Amber's encounter with a sinister presence, setting the stage for a suspenseful narrative about isolation, the unknown, and the thin line between reality and the fears that haunt us.

Mood-board

  • Our scene setting is going to be in the woods, therefore we want to focus on forest environment with a dark green and brown colour scheme. This conveys our genre, thriller, and builds up suspense and evokes something bad is about to happen to the teenagers

Script

Storyboard

After discussing about the shots and whole plot, I made the first draft of storyboard according to my teammate's script.

Targeted audience

  • Our main target audience is to teens and young adults.

  • We would attempt to keep our rating at PG-13 the content could be open to a larger audience, however some elements can result in an R rating.

Inspirations from other films

Get Out (2017), Jordan Peele

  • The 2-minute opening of the film get out inspired us in creating the storyline of our opening.

  • We were also inspired by the tense atmosphere 'Get Out' was able to create solely using the diegetic lighting. The use of one long shot also emphasized this effect.

  • Therefore, I came up with the general plot of camping in a forest where the characters encounter a series of events
