Blog 14 - Editing Reflection

In my Music video I used Final Cut for rough editing and Davinci for colour grading and final editing

I added an interval without music after Anna has discovered the perfume, filled with dialogues and acting, which was inspired by “Last Friday Night” by Katy Perry. This dialogue was to serve as a turning point of Anna and Vincent’s relationship, which adds emotional intensity to the narration and atmosphere to my MV

Editing pace - Cuts on beat

At the beginning of my MV, I did cuts on beat for this section. The drum beats are weak when Anna hugs Vincent, but as he pushes her away, they gradually become stronger, which can convey that he is the rhythm controller with stable power in this relationship, forming an auditory oppression acoustically

The heartbeat like drum beats can trigger audience anxiety, synchronised with Anna's suffocating feeling, and also create a tense atmosphere in their relationship This method of editing also conveyed the narrative of their relationship in a short period of time
